Travis Kelce’s fiancée Taylor Swift reveals unexpected name who played matchmaker in their romance before turning “obsessed” with Chiefs TE

Taylor Swift says her mom, Andrea Swift, helped her meet her fiancé, Travis Kelce. She shared the story in her Disney+ docuseries "The End of an Era."

In the fourth episode, which came out Friday, Swift said that Andrea set up their first meeting after Kelce tried to reach her at her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City on July 8, 2023.

Kelce went to the Arrowhead Stadium concert and made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, hoping to give it to Taylor. The backstage meeting never happened, but the story went viral after Kelce talked about it on his podcast "New Heights."

Andrea did not know Kelce well, so she asked a family friend, Robin, who is a big Chiefs fan.

“Oh my god, he’s the nicest guy, and you know what, he really loves his mom,” Robin said.

That convinced Andrea to introduce them.

Taylor usually did not date athletes because she was not sure what they would talk about. But on their first date, Kelce described football as “violent chess,” which Taylor called “high-speed angry chess.”

“Then I just sort of became obsessed with him and therefore became obsessed with learning football. Greatest surprise of my life,” Swift said.

Taylor also said dating while on tour used to be hard.

“It always felt like the tour was taking away from the relationship,” she said.

But with Kelce, it’s different.

“With this person in my life, you can have the two passions coexist and they actually fuel each other,” Swift said.

The couple went public with their romance in September 2023 when Swift attended a Chiefs game.

They got engaged on Aug. 26, and posted pictures of the engagement on Instagram with a joint post.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the post was captioned.

The date also matches track 26, "The Prophecy," on Taylor’s album "The Tortured Poets Department."

The first four episodes of The End of an Era are streaming on Disney+ and the last two episodes will come out on Dec. 23.

Taylor Swift’s mom, Andrea Swift, spoke about her daughter’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, for the first time in a new trailer for Taylor’s docuseries "The End of an Era."

“Travis Kelce, he brings a lot of happiness,” Andrea said in a clip shared on Taylor’s social media Thursday, Nov. 13.

The trailer also showed Taylor smiling as she chatted with Kelce on the phone from the back of a car.

“We basically do the same job,” she joked. “You’ve got teammates. I got teammates,” Kelce said.

Taylor added:

“You’ve got Coach Reid, I’ve got my mom."

Andrea Swift has been deeply involved in Taylor Swift's journey since the beginning.

Taylor’s father, Scott Swift also plays a role in her business affairs.
