The go-home edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII, saw a back-and-forth mixed tag team match-up between the Terror Twins (Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest) vs. Aleister Black and Zelina Vega.
The match, as expected, delivered classic action and was worth being on the main card. The bout went well, but fans have pointed out how the broadcast turned black when Vega and Ripley were performing, hinting that one of them had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. While it's not confirmed who, between Zelina and Rhea, had botched their attire, the moment was caught and sensed by fans and pundits.
The contest ended with the Nightmare putting a jaw-dropping Ripetide on the former Women's United States Champion and grabbed a win for herself and her Terror Twin Damian Priest, sending a statement.
WWE may have dropped hints about Ripley's future
The Eradicator secured a massive win over one of the top female contenders on the blue brand and has sent a clear message to the entire Friday Night SmackDown women's roster.
With Rhea Ripley's major main-event win at the Friday Night show, the Stamford-based promotion may subtly hint at the former two-time Women's World Champion's switch from Monday Night RAW to the blue brand and kick off a new reign on the new brand.
Rhea could soon begin chasing the women's championship and start a new rivalry with Jade Cargill heading into the Road to WWE WrestleMania 42. A feud between the two powerhouses would be a treat for professional wrestling fans.
That said, it will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and his creative team have in store for the former member of the Judgment Day as the sports entertainment juggernaut heads into a fresh year. Only time will tell.
