WWE cuts Gunther promo live on-air; John Cena's last-ever opponent stunned

WWE cut Gunther's promo live on-air during RAW. This shocked John Cena's final opponent.

Gunther has had an incredible year in 2025. He started the year as the World Champion. The Ring General also won the World Title for the second time. If that wasn't enough, the Ring General defeated Goldberg in the latter's retirement match. The former World Champion then went on to make John Cena tap out during the Greatest of All Time's final WWE match. Since then, the Ring General has become the most hated man in the sports entertainment juggernaut. He has also played into it by insulting Cena.

Therefore, tonight on WWE RAW, R-Truth confronted the Ring General about his disrespectful behavior. Hence, the former Intercontinental Champion challenged him to a match. After the Ring General made his entrance, the show cut to commercial. During this time, he got on the mic and cut a promo insulting John Cena. However, Gunther took his own time, and WWE had to cut off his mic while he was talking because they returned from a commercial break. The Ring General even looked stunned by what happened.

The Miz recently praised Gunther

Gunther is one of the most dominant forces to set foot in the WWE ring. He has found quite a lot of success in the Stamford-based promotion. It looks like the sports entertainment juggernaut is keen on building the Ring General into a monster heel.

During an interview with UNLIKELY with Adrian Hernandez, The Miz said that every babyface wants to work with the Ring General because he has a lot of heat and ability.

"Every good guy wants to work a guy like him because he has such immense heat and such great ability. He hits hard. He's a type of person that can make every bad guy turn into a good guy. Hence me. When I fought him, it was bad guy versus bad guy. And guess what? He turned me into the good guy, which doesn't happen very often. And it takes a very special talent to do that, and he was able to do that," The Miz said.
