The Toronto Blue Jays snatched the lead in the World Series after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday. The Blue Jays roster outplayed their opponents in all facets of the game with strong offense, astute pitching from starter Trey Yesavage, and steady defense.
The highlight of their defense came in the bottom of the sixth inning with Blue Jays right fielder Addison Barger taking a running catch to end Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani's at-bat. Hitting leadoff, Ohtani whacked an 88 mph slider on a 1-2 count towards that left the bat at 117.3 mph. The ball was caught by Barger a few off the ground.

Barger's effort drew praise online from fans on X. Fans compared his defense to Los Angeles outfielder Teoscar Hernandez who made a costly misjudgment earlier in the game on a similar play.
Here are a few reactions:
"That would’ve got by [Teoscar Hernandez] for a triple no doubt," a fan said.@TalkinBaseball_ That would’ve got by Teo for a triple no doubt
@TalkinBaseball_ The difference in defense between him and Teoscar could decide the outcome.
@TalkinBaseball_ What difference in outfielders Barger > Teo
@Dodgers Hey teoscar Addison Barger is trying to show you how to play right field. Bum
The difference between Teoscar and Addison has never been more clear. That's a RFer. #bluejays #WANTITALL #worldseries
The defensive difference from Barger to Teo was probably worth 2 runs so far lmao
In the top of the fourth inning, Daulton Varsho hit a line drive towards right field against Dodgers starter Blake Snell. Teoscar Hernandez attempted to grab the ball for the out, but missed it, leaving Varsho enough time to reach third base. Ernie Clement drove him in with a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.
Addison Barger states there's no room for complacency with a team like Dodgers
After the game, Barger spoke to Fox Sports' John Smoltz for his thoughts on the Blue Jays' victory.
"Yeah, I mean, the Dodgers are a great team, and we don't take that lightly at all, and we come out and compete our best every day, and it's all we can do," Barger said via Fox Sports.Barger also contributed on the plate going 2-for-3 on the night with one walk, and scored in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays head to Toronto, one win away from their first championship since 1993.
