Netflix will debut its live-action take on the BL manga 10DANCE on December 18, 2025, rolling it out globally. The project casts Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida in the central roles. The title stems from Satoh Inoue’s manga, originally serialized in Weekly Young Magazine under Kodansha in 2011, and honored with the This BL Is Amazing! prize in 2019.

The plot follows two elite dancers in Japan’s ballroom scene. Shinya Suzuki (played by Takeuchi) dominates Latin. Shinya Sugiki (portrayed by Machida) leads Standard ballroom and holds a world No.2 ranking. Though they compete in different categories, their similar names often spark comparisons, irritating Suzuki.

Sugiki proposes an alliance for the “10 Dance” contest, a format requiring five Latin routines and five Standard ballroom numbers. His plan is mutual coaching: Sugiki trains Suzuki in Standard, Suzuki trains Sugiki in Latin. Suzuki initially rejects the collaboration, calling it too risky. However, he eventually accepts after Sugiki’s persistent challenge fires up his competitive drive.

Daily rehearsals narrow their distance, and Suzuki starts to feel drawn to Sugiki. The cast also features Shiori Doi as Aki Tajima, Anna Ishii as Fusako Yaga, plus Shinya Hamada, Oshiro Maeda, Nadiya Bychkova, Susie Trayling, and Pasquale La Rocca.

Netflix is moving ahead with a live-action take on the BL manga 10DANCE, led by Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida. Takeuchi gained early national attention portraying Shinnosuke Tomari / Kamen Rider Drive in the tokusatsu drama Kamen Rider Drive from 2014 to 2015.

He later expanded his range with mainstream TV projects like Hiyokko (2017) and films such as Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High the same year. In 2022, he fronted Roppongi Class, Japan’s adaptation of the South Korean hit Itaewon Class.

Meanwhile, Machida has built recognition through major titles across streaming, television, and cinema. He played Daikichi Karube in Netflix’s Alice in Borderland, appeared as Noboru Harada in the High&Low universe, and earned praise for his role in Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!, which brought him industry honors. Recently, he starred in Netflix's J-drama Glass Heart.

According to Netflix, filmmaker Katsuhiro Otomo noted 10DANCE's story will dig into “the depths of love and its capacity,” using ballroom as a medium to reveal emotion. Original creator Inouesatoh said the project once felt unreachable, but with Netflix involved and what they called “perfect” lead casting, the team expects to deliver the manga’s intimacy and energy in a new form.
