The NBA will be starting to draw a line on players' and fans' interactions regarding parlays and other betting-related stuff. This comes after numerous player-fan interactions circulated on social media where courtside audience tell players about their bets on the ongoing game.

In a report by Brett Siegel, the league said that such interactions will not be tolerated and will prompt the NBA to punish players.

“Any negative behavior and verbiage regarding sports betting towards players will not be tolerated and will immediately result in punishment," the league said.

NBA fans were then left baffled about the league's decision to warn such courtside acts, calling out the league commissioner, Adam Silver, for their hypocrisy by having betting sites as sponsors on games' broadcasts.

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA This is the worst nba commissioner of all time, they let the local tv channels be run by fanduel and are partnered with them but whoa there buddy can’t call us or the players out on that

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA With all the league betting partnerships, ironic but still the right call, players aren’t your bookie.

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA Isn’t the NBA partnered with FanDuel and Draftkings? So they’ll take money from them but don’t want fans who are doing the betting to talk about the betting?? Wow

Others suggested that the NBA and other sports leagues should stop promoting gambling sites to prevent such occurrences.

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA Then the NBA and all major sports leagues should stop promoting it.

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA “Yes we’re partnered with every sportsbook available and we control the players going over or under on their props, but you can’t call us or them out for it”

@LegionHoops @BrettSiegelNBA Sports betting companies spent over $50M advertising on NBA games last season. It'll be even higher this season. Sports betting drives a good portion of the interest in the sport. Fans shouldn't be harassing players regardless, but let's not go too deep into hypocrisy here.

The league has been advertising numerous sports betting sites on its games, including FanDuel and DraftKings.

Recently, the NBA has been involved in a betting scandal involving a number of players and coaches, including Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups. Both Rozier and Billups are now in the police's custody.

Adam Silver addresses fans amid NBA's betting controversies

The NBA has been taking a firm stance against illegal betting to preserve the integrity of the league, according to Adam Silver.

Silver addressed fans during the NBA Cup finale, acknowledging that fans care about the game and the league is doing its best to keep every game's integrity intact.

“I think the fans care a lot. It’s hard to make judgments, either anecdotally over what some fans are saying or what’s even on social media," Silver said via Associated Press. "Fans definitely care." "I mean it when I say, if this game isn’t viewed as being honest and the competition being on the level and at the highest integrity, over time we will lose our fan base. I have no doubt about that. And so, I take it incredibly seriously.”

The NBA Cup final happened in Las Vegas, a place considered the epicenter of sports gambling.

For now, the league moves forward from the betting controversies early this season as it goes toward the new year.
