Basketball is en vogue this time of year. The sport dances across phone and television screens across the country as onlookers yearn for glistening performances and stunning upsets.

The women's tourney should prove especially noteworthy. For the first time in five seasons, the competition won't feature Caitlin Clark or Paige Bueckers. There are still an abundance of luminaries slated to take the floor across the three-week spectacle, including Lauren Betts, Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo.

No side in the field is littered with as much talent as UConn, however. Fresh off of capturing their first title since 2016, the Huskies are on the prowl once more. They've won 50 straight games stretching into last season, with Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong showing out throughout the unbeaten campaign. It's not a foregone conclusion that Geno Auriemma's side will scale the mountain and collect yet another gemstone to add to its impressive collection in 2026. But it will be hard to dethrone them, especially in the latter rounds of tournament play.

The Sporting News is tracking live updates from Selection Sunday. Follow below as the committee announces seeding and snubs for Women's March Madness in 2026.
