Chris Bassit's three-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays has ended. An emotional Bassit hand expressed interest in playing for the Blue Jays after the World Series Game 7 loss. However, whether the team re-signs a 37-year-old pitcher remains to be seen.
Bassit joined the Blue Jays in December 2022, signing a three-year, $63M contract. Notably, he was the American League wins leader in his debut season in Toronto.
Amid rumors linking Bassit to multiple MLB teams, his wife, Jessica, shared a multi-snap Instagram post on Wednesday. While the cove image was that of the couple, the post mostly featured a group snap of Jessica with the wives and girlfriends of Blue Jays players.

Jessica claimed that the team shook Canada to its core and made people fall in love with baseball again, bringing an entire country together.
"We laughed together, we cried together, we went on a month long rollercoaster bender together. We loved one another and truly enjoyed being around one another. I have never experienced anything like it in baseball - everyone coming together and supporting each other and families molded together by one common love, baseball," she added.Jessica disclosed that she doesn't see the Blue Jays' World Series heartbreak as a loss, but rather the showing of grit, determination, and companionship. She admitted the journey was stressful, particularly on the children, but praised the women for being the glue that held everything together.
"I have a lot more to say, and maybe one of these days I will - about our Toronto Blue Jays story. But, for now, I will just say it was such an amazing privilege to be a part of this team, this organization, this ride, this moment for all of Canada," she concluded the message.Among the many who commented on the post was Kara Maxine, the wife of Shane Bieber, and Erica, the better half of Max Scherzer.
"Our prayer leader ❤️ love you so much! What a wild ride it was. Blessed to do it with yall," Kara wrote. "I am so grateful we were able to have another season with you guys. Baseball with the Bassitts is special. Ilysm!! 💙," Erica wrote.
