With Halloween nearby, Minecraft fans are asking for more carved pumpkin designs

Minecraft has a lot of different decorative items that players can use to add more detail to their builds. With Halloween right around the corner, many builders are choosing to go with a spooky theme.

Mojang Studios added the pale garden biome to add a scary element to the game. However, some fans are asking why the developers have completely ignored a classic item that is often the flagbearer of Halloween.

A Minecraft player, u/Just-Guarantee7808, made a post on the game’s subreddit asking why Mojang Studios has not added new carved pumpkin faces. For those who are unaware, using shears on pumpkin turns them into jack-o’-lanterns. However, it always makes the same face texture.

The original poster added that it has been almost 15 years and the developers have not added any new face variants for this item, even though it seems to be a very simple and easy task.

u/boster-mcman suggested that the developers can add a white pumpkin variant that gives a different face when carved. This would be a great idea as more colors give players more options for decorating their bases. u/duccOnReddit added that it could be the pale pumpkins found in the pale garden.

The pale garden would be the best place to add a white or desaturated pumpkin as it would fit the overall theme of the biome. However, it is unlikely that Mojang Studios would add just one new pumpkin in an update.

For all the players who do not want to wait for an official update, they can download the Ghostly Gourds mod that does the same thing. In fact, the image added by the original poster has been taken from this mod.

u/redtonpuppy said that adding new face variants for the carved pumpkin might be a little challenging as the developers would have to add UI/crafting elements for choosing different faces. However, u/IncomprehensiveScale pointed out that it can be done just like changing the state of the noteblock; by just interacting with the block.

More spooky items in Minecraft

The upcoming Mounts of Mayhem update will add the nautilus mob, zombie horseman, and the spear weapon. However, many players also want Mojang Studios to add more spooky elements to the game to increase the creepy factor. While the pale garden biome was meant just for that, things are still restricted to one region in the overworld.

Perhaps the addition of new carved pumpkin faces would be the first and most effective step in making Minecraft scarier. The developers can also add more spooky elements in abandoned villages and even a rare and special mob.
