The seventh episode of season 14 caught the viewers' attention with emotional moments and high-risk scenes. While new connections developed between some characters at one end, several others found themselves in challenging situations that raised doubts about their future.

Episode 8 may mainly touch upon the danger that Severide will face in the school fire incident. He found an online hate group for the school's principal to be a potential culprit. As the episode came to an end, viewers got to see a hooded individual set the principal's apartment building on fire. With Severide and Van Meter also present at the site during the incident, episode 8 may showcase how they will handle the crisis and whether they will manage to escape safely.

Vasquez's father was also released from jail unexpectedly in episode 7. While this upsets him deeply, its consequences may be explored ahead in the next episode. Chief Pascal also finds out that Engine 51 will be decommissioned, which would result in Mouch being removed permanently. This may be a prominent topic that will be picked up in episode 8.
