A Frontier Airlines flight was diverted to Miami when a deranged passenger tried to pry open the exit doors and break into the pilot’s cabin during a harrowing mid-flight rampage, according to authorities and reports.
Frontier Airlines Flight 3345 departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was headed to Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Sunday when a “passenger disturbance” was reported by crew members, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
Flight attendants and other passengers on the plane reported spotting a crazed man trying to open the exit doors, claiming he wanted to get off the plane, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told CBS News.

The passenger allegedly ignored the flight attendants’ pleas to sit down and stop, and instead rushed to the front of the plane where he tried to get into the pilot’s cabin, cops said.
An off-duty flight attendant eventually volunteered to sit in the man’s row to help keep him in his seat. But when the off-duty attendant left to use the bathroom, the madman attempted to snatch his bag and choke him.
Other passengers and flight attendants eventually restrained the passenger as the flight was diverted to Miami International Airport, the outlet reported.
The flight landed safely just before 12 p.m. local time, where the passenger, who has not yet been identified, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of battery.
