India’s left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav got the better of Wiaan Mulder to claim his third wicket on Day 1 (Saturday, November 22) of the second Test against South Africa. The match is being played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the 68th over of South Africa’s innings. Kuldeep tossed one up around off stump, inviting Mulder to attack. The right-hander attempted to go aerial but failed to get the required elevation, sending a straightforward catch to Yashasvi Jaiswal at mid-off.

Wiaan Mulder fell for 13 off 18 deliveries, striking two boundaries. His wicket left the visitors at 201/5 after 67.2 overs.


Kuldeep Yadav strikes thrice as India keep chipping away at regular intervals

After choosing to bat first, South Africa’s openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton got off to a strong start, putting on 82 runs for the first wicket off 161 balls. Jasprit Bumrah gave India their first breakthrough by dismissing Markram for 38 off 81 deliveries.

Kuldeep Yadav then removed Rickelton, who made 35 off 82 balls with five fours. Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs followed with an 84-run stand off 180 balls for the third wicket. Ravindra Jadeja broke the partnership by dismissing Bavuma for 41, while Stubbs fell one short of a fifty, departing for 49 off 112 deliveries, including four fours and two sixes. Wiaan Mulder added 13 off 18 balls before Kuldeep picked up his third wicket of the innings.

At the time of writing, South Africa were 224/5 after 72 overs, with Tony de Zorzi (22) and Senuran Muthusamy (9) at the crease.

Meanwhile, South Africa lead the two-match series 1-0 after their remarkable 30-run victory in the first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where India were bowled out for 93 while chasing 124.
