The United States had two goalies named Matt to choose from.
They've gone with Freese, not Turner.
It was a big call by Mauricio Pochettino, but he ends up going with the one that most were expecting.
Freese was favored late over Turner, and he started the friendly against Germany right before the World Cup, so it makes sense that he now gets the call against Paraguay.

Why is Matt Freese playing over Matt Turner?
This mostly comes down to Turner's form.
Turner has not played well in recent months, and whenever Pochettino has called on Freese for Team USA, he has performed well.
It's a notable decision because Turner has more big-game experience with the United States than Freese.
Right now, though, Freese is the better goalie, and so he gets the nod.

Some fans aren't happy, because it's not really a case of Freese winning the ball with any showcase performances and maybe more a case of Turner losing it.
Either way, a Matt has to get the job done.
