The Boston Celtics won’t have long to bask in their 114-99 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night, as they’ll be right back in action against the Hawks in Atlanta on Monday night.
Unfortunately, Boston won’t have the services of star forward Jayson Tatum for the matchup with the Hawks.
Jayson Tatum ruled out vs. Hawks due to right Achilles repair management
Tatum has been ruled out of the game against Atlanta due to right Achilles repair management. The Celtics continue to be cautious with Tatum as he works his way back to full form after suffering an Achilles tear last season. Since Tatum played against Charlotte on Sunday, it’s not shocking to see Boston holding him out on the second night of a back-to-back.
Not only did Tatum play against the Hornets, he turned in his best performance of the season in the contest. In 31 minutes of action, Tatum tallied 32 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds against Charlotte.
On the season, Tatum has appeared in 11 games for Boston and posted averages of 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes per performance.
But, while Tatum will be out against Atlanta, the Celtics will be getting another key contributor back. After missing two straight games due to Achilles tendinitis, Jaylen Brown will be back out on the floor against the Hawks.
The game between Boston and Atlanta will be the fourth and final of the season. The Celtics won two of the previous three meetings, including the most recent meeting, which took place mere days ago in Boston.
