Warriors get LeBron James update on joining forces with Steph Curry

LeBron James will be a free agent after the season, and he'll have a multi-step decision to make. Does he want to retire? And if not, what team does he want to sign with?

The reality is that if James doesn't ask for too big a contract, pretty much every team in the NBA would consider signing the all-time great if he expressed interest. That includes the Golden State Warriors.

In a new ESPN article on Tuesday, insiders Dave McMenamin and Tim Bontemps took a deeper look at the possible options for James.

They first expressed that whether James even chooses to keep playing or not is an unknown.

Once they laid that out, though, they looked at each individual team that could be in play.

A return to the Los Angeles Lakers is still possible, they wrote, with it potentially being driven by James' new love for golf.

Then they point out that there are multiple potential draws to James joining the Warriors.

"The Warriors also feature one of James' best friends in the league, Draymond Green, and another former Finals foe in Jimmy Butler III, who could miss the early part of next season while recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee," the ESPN duo writes. "Pairing with (Steph) Curry, the defining foil of the second half of James' career, would create a spectacle and bring even more buzz to James' final stage."

ESPN's insiders also point out that James took his daughter Zhuri with him on a road trip for the first time earlier this season when the Lakers played in the Bay Area.

It would certainly be quite the basketball story for James and Curry to team up as both approach their final act in the NBA.
