Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo had a deep dive on Wednesday night. Out of sheer curiosity, he openly asked about having NCAA eligibility. More specifically, suiting up for the Marquette Golden Eagles.
The two-time NBA MVP took to social media ahead of Marquette’s matchup with Southern on Wednesday night to ask if there was any chance of playing college basketball at the age of 30.
“Do I still have eligibility left?” Antetokounmpo joked.
Random thoughts as I sit in my living room…do I have college eligibility??? Can I suit up for Marquette tonight? 🤔💭
— Giannis Antetokounmpo (@Giannis_An34) November 5, 2025The Golden Eagles social team saw the post and loved the idea of adding a well-rounded forward to the roster. They even edited photo of Antetokounmpo in Marquette threads. However, don't waste time thinking about it. The face of the Bucks is barred from the college game.
You’re welcome any time! https://t.co/sOD9b1b2aP pic.twitter.com/KMze0e23QT
— Marquette Basketball (@MarquetteMBB) November 5, 2025Antetokounmpo began his professional career in Greece before joining the NBA in 2013 and is off to another dominant start for Milwaukee. He’s averaging 32.3 points, 12.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game this season while shooting 67.7% from the field and 60% from three-point range.
The post comes amid new NCAA rules allowing certain G League players to return to college basketball, a policy that has already seen former Ignite guards London Johnson and Thierry Darlan commit to Louisville and Santa Clara, respectively.
While active NBA players remain ineligible, the evolving landscape shows how flexible basketball pathways have become. If Antetokounmpo ever found a loophole, college defenses wouldn’t stand much of a chance.
