Why did MrBeast change his X profile picture to Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece?

YouTube star Jimmy "MrBeast" has taken the internet by storm after changing his official X account's profile picture to Monkey D. Luffy from the popular anime One Piece. On December 23, 2025, MrBeast took to X to ask the online community if he should consider watching One Piece.

He wrote:

"Should I watch One Piece? I’m scared it’s so many episodes 😭"

Over 6,900 netizens responded to the most subscribed YouTuber's social media post, including several prominent streamers and content creators.

Darren "IShowSpeed" replied, saying that watching One Piece would "change" MrBeast's life:

"your life will change Jimmy" YouTuber IShowSpeed said.

Twitch and YouTube streamer Rachell "Valkyrae" described One Piece as the "best anime of all time":

"The best anime of all time. Then after you’re done build a One Piece amusement park please" YouTube and Twitch streamer Valkyrae said.

According to YouTube content creator InfernoOmni, watching One Piece is not just about "finishing it," but also about being "happy to be a part of the ride":

"the thing about One Piece people need to understand is that it's not about finishing it. after a certain point, you're just happy to be a part of the ride. when you get there, you'll wish it never stopped" YouTuber InfernoOmni said.

Twitch political streamer Hasan "HasanAbi" also chimed in with his views:

"i always dunked on one piece fans for many years, i was intimidated by the number of episodes, thought the art style was corny. then i finally caved 3-4 years ago. there were ups and downs but it’s been an incredible journey overall. i get it now. you will too." HasanAbi said.

On December 24, 2025, MrBeast responded to IShowSpeed's now-deleted X post by stating that he "has been converted" and eventually changed his profile picture to Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece.

Controversial internet personality Nico "Sneako" has shared his thoughts on the recent "anime push," after MrBeast changed his X profile picture to a character from One Piece.

Expressing his suspicion that "something real grifty" was in play, the permanently banned Twitch personality wrote:

"Something smells real grifty about this anime push Yeah ok ok mental health sure sure but a Youtuber anime show is definitely worse than suicide"
