Why Carlo Ancelotti refuse to give any 'advice' to soon-to-be new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso?

Real Madrid will go through a massive transformation as current manager Carlo Ancelotti is on his way out and will be reportedly replaced by Xabi Alonso.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding Alonso, it is now an open secret. So much so that outgoing manager Ancelotti revealed his name during his final pre-match press conference ahead of the Real Sociedad game.

It is indeed an emotional moment for the Italian, as he has been the most successful manager in Real Madrid's history across two stints.

During the press conference, he was told to share some advice with the next Real Madrid boss, where Ancelotti revealed Alonso's name while sharing an interesting perspective. The Italian refrained from sharing any advice for the Spaniard but wished him good luck.

“I don’t want to give advice because everyone has their own idea of football," Ancelotti replied

"It’s a blessing to coach Real Madrid. Xabi is the first, he is a manager that has all the characteristics to coach this club and this team, and I wish him all the luck in the world. I hope he enjoys it.”

What did Ancelotti say about taking over the Brazil job?

The Italian guided Real Madrid to 15 honours across his two stints, including three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns.

He delivered the double in the 2023/24 campaign, where Los Blancos clinched the La Liga and also won the Champions League.

However, things changed drastically this season as Ancelotti failed to win any silverware, and the team management decided to move towards a transition phase with a young manager.

However, Ancelotti was immediately snapped up by the Brazilian national team. The Selecao desperately needed a head coach who could keep the players together, especially after Dorival Junior's tenure with the team.

Ancelotti will be keen to get the team in order before next year's FIFA World Cup. “This was the only way to leave for me, not joining another club… and with the love of Real Madrid fans," he stated when asked about the Brazil role.

“I didn't and don't want to coach another club after Real Madrid. Now it will be Brazil, the World Cup… I’m excited”.
