It's not been the best start to the year, but the 2026 Cincinnati Bengals are 2-2 heading into Week 5. There's a lot to like about the team so far, and this upcoming matchup should be an easy one.

Week 5 against the lowly 0-4 Miami Dolphins should be an easy win for Cincinnati. The Dolphins have been a tricky team, but they're clearly a step behind most teams in the NFL. But the Bengals are facing a bit of a problem in this Week 5 matchup.

As ESPN's Ben Baby highlighted, the Bengals' defense might be in trouble against the Dolphins' offense thanks to one issue: How the Bengals tackle on passing plays, and how Dolphins WRs break tackles.

Why Bengals might have trouble against the Dolphins in Week 5

"Cincinnati leads the NFL with 24 missed tackles on called pass plays, according to NFL Next Gen Stats," Baby writes. "Miami ranks fourth in missed tackles forced by WRs on called pass plays."

While there's going to be a lot more to this week's matchup than simply how the Bengals defense tackles the Dolphins' wide receivers, it's going to be a storyline to watch this week.

This issue presents an interesting problem for the Cincinnati defense. While the Dolphins' offense isn't great, they might be a troublesome matchup for the Bengals.

The Dolphins' wide receiver room isn't great by any means. Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas, Malik Washington, and a few others make up one of the worst WR rooms in the league.

But those receivers' ability to force missed tackles after the catch could be a real problem for the Bengals' defense this week.

Dexter Lawrence II will need to be a game-wrecker this week; otherwise, if the Dolphins' QB Malik Willis has time to throw, and the Dolphins' WRs continue to break tackles, the Bengals might have a real problem on their hands.

Tackling should be a huge point of emphasis this week for the Bengals. If this defense can fix this issue, even if only a little bit, then they should have an easy time stopping this Dolphins' offense.

If the tackling woes continue, then Cincinnati's defense might be in trouble. It's still the 0-4 Dolphins, so the Bengals should win. But the warning signs are there, and things could get ugly for Cincinnati this week.
