The New York Knicks' historic rally against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night put Madison Square Garden in a frenzy.

More than 19,000 fans were stunned as the Knicks -- down 22 points with under eight minutes remaining -- forced overtime and went on to win Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals by a 115-104 score.

Among those reacting to the frenzy in front of them as the Knicks launched their comeback was a franchise icon -- who unintentionally found himself in hot water come Wednesday morning.

Stephon Marbury took to X to issue a formal apology to Jalen Brunson, Knicks fans and MSG security for getting "swept up in the current like a plastic bag."

Marbury was seen stepping onto the court from his seat behind the Cavaliers basket as Brunson sank a floater early in overtime to extend the Knicks' lead to 105-101. He said his feet "carried (him) somewhere they didn't belong," and he thanked the fans for being cool about it.

"(Brunson) owned the Garden. I just got swept up in the current like a plastic bag," Marbury wrote. "My energy flew out of the roof, I lost my mind, and my feet carried me somewhere they didn't belong. Thank you to the fans for the positive reaction."

Marbury, who played parts of five seasons for the Knicks between 2003 and 2008, signed off by asking the Knicks to do it again. New York can go up 2-0 in the conference finals on Thursday as they near a first NBA Finals berth in 27 years.
