Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina Grossu, and their two children were tragically killed in a private jet that crashed while trying to land at Statesville Regional Airport on Thursday, December 18, as confirmed by Congressman Richard Hudson.
Cristina Grossu worked in the field of real estate and luxury travel. She married Biffle in the Bahamas in January 2023. Their son, Ryder Jack, was born on September 9, 2020. Biffle also has a daughter, Emma Elizabeth, from his first marriage to Nicole Lunders. Emma was born in July 2011.
According to Grossu's Instagram profile, she was a licensed Realtor and real estate broker in multiple US states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Florida. She began her real estate career in 2012, after earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California, and later added a master's degree as well.
Grossu owned Leisurely Real Estate and was the CEO of 'My Replica Ring', a company that creates replica rings for travel and insurance purposes. She also worked as a luxury travel agent at CG Luxe Travel. Her ring brand also helped Kyle Busch's wife, Samantha, with a replica ring.
Officials said that the plane, Cessna C550, was registered to GB Aviation Leasing, a company that was linked to Biffle. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) opened an investigation, and the Iredell County sheriff also confirmed several deaths in the plane crash.
Cristina Grossu made the Realtor Magazine's "30 Under 30" list at age 29
Cristina Grossu was also recognized on Realtor Magazine's "30 Under 30" list in 2019 and led top-producing teams for several years. She negotiated hundreds of home sales and purchases and holds luxury home certifications.
Grossu's social media presence was focused on family and lifestyle. Her last post on Instagram was a week ago.
Biffle also shared photos and videos of Cristina and the children on his social pages. The couple marked Ryder's fifth birthday together this September.
Biffle, who began racing in the mid-1990s, rose through short tracks to NASCAR's national series. He won the Craftsman Truck Series title in 2000 and the Busch Series championship in 2002. He recorded 19 Cup Series wins while competing for Roush Racing for most of his career. He later made occasional returns to Truck and ARCA races.
The Washington native also helped in community support efforts. During Hurricane Helene relief efforts, he used his piloting skills and aircraft to support evacuation and supply missions in isolated areas.
