The Los Angeles Lakers entered the second night of the 2026 NBA Draft with no picks.
Clearly, they had some ideas, and so they swung a deal with the Chicago Bulls to get the 56th pick and get on the board. They sent cash to Chicago to get it done. But then they didn't keep it. The Dallas Mavericks wanted that pick more and traded with the Lakers to get it.
And in that spot, the Mavs chose Vsevolod Ishchenko.
Who?
That's a fair question.

Who is Vsevolod Ishchenko?
He's a 6-foot-8 wing from Russia.
He's known for his shooting ability.
NBADraft.net compares him to Bogdan Bogdanovic.
This is part of their blurb:
"Ishchenko is a skilled and versatile perimeter prospect whose combination of size, feel, shooting ability, and guard skills makes him one of the more intriguing international sleepers in the 2026 NBA Draft class... Standing 6-foot-8 and weighing 220 pounds, he possesses excellent size and strength for a perimeter player while maintaining the ball skills and vision of a combo guard."
Dallas will likely stash him overseas, but it's a fun stab to take.
