Fresh details surrounding the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, have placed renewed focus on their daughter, Romy Reiner, and her role in the immediate aftermath of the killings.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on December 19, 2025, Megyn Kelly discussed remarks attributed to television host Billy Bush, who described secondhand information about what allegedly occurred after the stabbings. According to Kelly, the account suggests Michele Reiner was still alive when emergency responders arrived and identified her son Nick as the attacker.

"The daughter, I guess, lives on the property or at the house or in the back house, and that she found them, and that the mom was still alive. And apparently she called the ambulance and went in the ambulance with her mother. Michelle died in the ambulance, but had enough time to tell her daughter that it was Nick, their son, who stabbed them"

Megyn Kelly framed the claim as potentially significant from a legal standpoint, calling it a possible “dying declaration."

According to the report by E! News published on December 17, 2025, citing updates from the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, Romy lived nearby and was the first on the scene at her parents’ Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025. Family friends told outlets that she arrived with her roommate after the couple’s massage therapist was unable to get an answer at the door.

Per the New York Times, updated cited by E! News in their report, Romy Reiner entered the home and discovered her father Rob Reiner's body before running outside, where her roommate called 911. The report stated that she did not see her mother’s body and was later informed of Michele Reiner’s death by a paramedic.

Law enforcement has not publicly detailed Romy Reiner's actions beyond what has been reported by these outlets, and representatives for the Reiner family have declined comment, according to E! News.

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner's son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bond. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman explained that the charges could carry severe sentences and that investigations remain ongoing.

"These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, or the death penalty. No decision at this point has been made with respect to the death penalty"

Meanwhile, Romy Reiner and her brother Jake Reiner released a statement through PEOPLE magazine, reported by The Hollywood Reporter on December 17, 2025, describing their parents as “our best friends” and saying the loss was “unimaginable.”

"Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends"
