The Pittsburgh Penguins pulled off a defense-for-defense trade on Tuesday with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The trade was officially announced by the teams, and it sends Kaedan Korczak to the Penguins for Parker Wotherspoon.

Wotherspoon is having 50% of his salary retained by the Penguins, and he leaves Pittsburgh after a 30-point season.

The 28-year old blue liner leaves Pittsburgh in favor of Korczak.

Who is Kaedan Korczak?

Korczak is a 25-year old defenseman.

He played 78 games in 2025-26 and had three goals and 13 assists for 16 points. He also had 95 blocks and 102 hits.

He was originally a second-round pick by Vegas in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Korczak is 6-foot-3 and originally from Saskatchewan. He played at the junior level for the Kelowna Rockets.

Why did the Penguins do this trade?

They cleared a bit of salary and got a bit younger by swapping Wotherspoon for Korczak.

Yes, they had to retain some of Wotherspoon's salary, but that emphasizes their desire to move on from him.

The hope will be that the physically imposing Korczak can make an impact for the Penguins.
