Cardinals' losing week pushes them out of the top 10 in latest power rankings

The St. Louis Cardinals have been rolling this year despite not many people having them on their radars. They fully dove into their rebuild this year, and many analysts figured this would be a trying year for the squad.

However, nobody told the players that not much was expected from them as they enter Tuesday's games with a 43-38 record, putting them in third place in the National League Central, 7.5 games behind the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers

Now, that deficit could have been smaller if not for the rough week the Cardinals had. They couldn't get much going against the Arizona Diamondbacks or the Miami Marlins

Cardinals' losing week pushes them out of the top 10 in latest power rankings

St. Louis started their week last week against the Arizona Diamondbacks, where they would lose the series 1-2. They would also lose the series over the weekend against the Marlins in the same 1-2 fashion, making for a 2-4 week.

With the losing week, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter had no choice but to bump this team out of the top 10 to No. 14 in his latest power rankings piece.

"The Cardinals were 37-28 and riding a season-high six-game winning streak on June 10, but they have gone just 6-10 since while dropping four of their last five series. They have exceeded expectations in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, but could still end up selling if they continue on their current trajectory."

Now, not all is bad, but it could be if they keep losing series as they have been lately. With the trade deadline coming up, these next few series could determine what the front office decides to do.

However, their upcoming schedule is really going to test them. They take on the Atlanta Braves in a three-game series starting on Tuesday before taking on the Chicago Cubs in two road series.
