Uttarakhand pacer Devendra Bora grabbed the headlines after he dismissed star batter Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare group stage contest at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, on Friday, December 26. The bowler became one of the handful of bowlers in the entire cricketing world to have dismissed the Hitman off the very first ball of his innings.

Rohit Sharma tried to take on the bowler early on in typical fashion, but ended up finding the fielder instead. The pacer eventually finished with figures of 3-74 as the domestic heavyweights piled on 331-7 in the first innings, courtesy of Hardik Tamore's 93, and identical fifties from Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan.

#1 This was only Devendra Bora's third List A appearance

While Devendra Bora made his debut in 2024, he has not played List A cricket consistently. He availed only one appearance in the last edition of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and made his return after a year. He made a statement in his second appearance with a four-fer in the recent loss against Himachal Pradesh.

The ongoing clash against Mumbai marks just his third appearance in List A cricket, and he has marked it with a three-fer, including the vital wicket of Rohit Sharma early in the innings.

Interestingly, all of his List A matches have been played at the same venue, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

#2 Devendra Bora was the leading wicket-taker in the 2024 Uttarakhand Premier League

The pacer played a starring role in guiding the USN Indians to the title in the inaugural edition of the 2024 Uttarakhand Premier League. He ended as the leading wicket-taker of the campaign with eight wickets in five matches with an economy rate of 8.17.

He switched to the Dehradun Dabangs for the 2025 season, where he finished as the joint fifth-highest wicket-taker with nine wickets in seven matches, while his economy read 8.10. He delivered a brilliant spell of 2-27 in the knockout playoff clash but Dehradun failed to make it to the final.

#3 Devendra Bora was dismissed for a pair on his first-class debut

Devendra Bora made his first-class debut in Januaury 2024 in the Ranji Trophy clash between Uttarakhand and Pondicherry in Dehradun. The pacer made a solid impression with the ball in his first outing by picking up five wickets in total, but had a forgettable time with the bat.

Although it is common for a specialist bowler to not have a good outing with the bat, especially coming in at No.11, but Bora had the misfortune of being dismissed for 0 in both innings, and was castled on both ocasions, after playing out a total of five balls, which included a golden duck.

#4 Devendra Bora dismissed Abhimanyu Easwaran for a golden duck in 2025 Ranji Trophy

The right-arm pacer has had a prized scalp before dismissing Rohit Sharma, as he had got the better of first-class giant, and Bengal skipper, Abhimanyu Easwaran, when Uttarakhand faced Bengal in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy group stage in Kolkata.

Devendra Bora ran through the Bengal top order at the Eden Gardens, reducing them 98-4, and eventually ending with his best career figures so far. His efforts resulted in a six-wicket haul, and though they ended up losing by eight wickets, Bengal were handed a major scare at one point.

#5 Devendra Bora has 30 wickets in 15 first-class matches

Since his debut in early 2024, Bora has regularly featured for Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy. In his first 15 first class appearances, he has taken 30 wickets at an average of 41.13 and an economy rate of 3.54.

He has featured in all of the Ranji Trophy matches for Uttarakhand this season, and is one of their leading wicket-taker pacers in red-ball cricket over the last year.
