The latest Associated Press Top 25 men’s college basketball poll brought plenty of movement following a chaotic Week 15 that saw six top-10 teams suffer losses.
Michigan climbed one spot to No. 1 after an 86-56 rout of UCLA. The Wolverines turned a two-point halftime lead into a runaway victory, fueled by Yaxel Lendeborg’s 17 points and eight rebounds. The first time in 13 years Michigan was on top, ending Arizona’s nine-week reign.
Houston moved up to No. 2 after a 78-64 win over Kansas State. The Cougars improved to 23-2 behind Emanuel Sharp’s 23-point effort. Duke also rose one spot to No. 3, defeating then-No. 20 Clemson 67-54 as Cameron Boozer scored 18 points.
Arizona dropped three spots to No. 4 after an overtime loss to Texas Tech, its second straight defeat after falling to Kansas without Darryn Peterson. UConn climbed to No. 5 with a 79-75 win over Georgetown. Dan Hurley wasn't pleased with the Huskies crowd and made it known.
Iowa State slipped one spot to No. 6 despite a 74-56 blowout of Kansas on Saturday. Purdue made the biggest jump in the top 10, rising six places to No. 7 after defeating Iowa. Kansas edged up to No. 8, while Nebraska fell to No. 9 and Illinois to No. 10.
