Who is Amotti? All you need to know about Physical: Asia’s Team Korea contestant

Netflix rolled out its latest reality competition series, Physical: Asia, on October 28, gathering eight teams from different countries. The countries are, namely, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Turkey, Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. While the original series, Physical: 100, gathered South Korean contestants, Physical: Asia invited a variety of athletes from each country.

However, Team Korea held many familiar faces, and many viewers' attention was naturally directed towards the winner of Physical: 100 season 2, Amotti. Kim Jae-hong, otherwise known as Amotti, is a CrossFit athlete and a fitness and wellness YouTuber. Following his grand win at Physical: 100 season 2, many fans and viewers have been consistently rooting for the contestant at every round of the spin-off reality competition series, Physical: Asia.

Physical: Asia's Amotti is a 31-year-old YouTuber and CrossFit athlete who holds over 307,000 subscribers. He previously ranked 6th at the competitive 2020 CrossFit in the Republic of Korea under the Men's Division. He also ranked 24 in the Asian men's division for CrossFit Ranking in 2018, and also ranked 727 globally in 2020 under the same ranking.

He participated in Physical: 100 season 2 in 2024, and won a cash prize of 300 million KRW after defeating the former firefighter contestant, Hong Beom-seok. He also participated in another bodybuilding competition in 2023 called Show Me Your Body. However, due to an ankle injury, he retired from competing and began to focus on his YouTube channel.

During an interview at Physical: 100, he revealed that he started CrossFit soon after his discharge from his mandatory military service, and was determined to succeed as an athlete, but due to the ankle injury he sustained after a car accident, he chose to retire. Here's what he stated:

"I broke my ankle, so I thought I wouldn't be able to work out anymore. I can't use my ankle like I used to, but I'm just thankful that I can still work out."

He expanded more about his injury during an interview with TV Guide's Kat Moon. Amotti explained that he underwent a 10-hour-long surgery when a car crushed his ankle while he was riding a scooter to his gym. Here's what the contestant explained:

"At that time, the doctor had told me that I may not be able to walk, let alone work out. I thought I might never walk again, let alone work out, do the thing that I love to do. A lot was going through my mind in terms of how am I going to live my life if that were the case going forward."

He continued,

At that time my mother had come to Seoul to look after me for about a month. Watching her take care of me and be there for me, I thought to myself, I cannot collapse here. I'm very proud of what I've done to overcome that time. And to myself back then, I'd like to say thank you for allowing me to be the person I am today."

Regardless of his retirement, Amotti garnered much appreciation and support from netizens follwoing his apperance in Physical: 100 season 2. He was not only praised for his physique, but was also recognized for his determination, which was also showcased through his YouTube videos and his consistent participation in reality competition series.


His win at the series also earned him an ambassadorship with Lululemon. On August 14, 2024, he also announced his marriage. The details of his wife are unknown. Therefore, fans and netizens have been rooting for Amotti for his ongoing participation in Physical: Asia.
