White Sox trade addition has not caught on as some had hoped

Over the offseason, the Chicago White Sox decided it was time to part ways with Luis Robert Jr. He was a cornerstone for the organization, but there wasn't really a spot for him in this rebuild.

So, they decided to trade him to the New York Mets. In exchange, they received Pither Truman Pauley and Ronald Acuna Jr.'s little brother, Luisangel Acuna.

Unfortunately, he is having a bit of a rough time out there with his new club. Across 25 games, he is hitting just .181/.250/.194 with no home runs and three runs batted in.

White Sox trade addition has not caught on as some had hoped

Not only is Acuna struggling at the plate, but he is also struggling in the outfield. He has three errors, and he's allowing the front office to think about bringing up their top prospect, Braden Montgomery, although he would fit much better in a corner outfield spot.

The White Sox weren't supposed to be contenders, but it would be nice to get a little more from their center fielder. With what he has done so far this season, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller tags him as the South Siders least valuable player.

"Ronald Acuna Jr.'s younger brother has a much more intriguing transaction log than game log at this point in his career. He was traded to the Mets for Max Scherzer back in 2023 and then traded from the Mets for Luis Robert Jr. this past winter. But he has three errors in center field and a .181 batting average thus far in this chapter. He's still just 24 years old, though, so maybe he'll turn things around."

Now, the slugger is still young, so maybe he can turn it around. But, with what he has shown thus far, there is a lot more to be desired.
