The Chicago White Sox need just one more win or a Texas Rangers loss to qualify for the postseason.
As of this writing, they lead the Kansas City Royals 8-0 in the top of the fourth at Kauffman Stadium.
Before the game, the AL Central club revealed an injury diagnosis for right-hander Luis Castillo.
According to an announcement from the White Sox, Castillo was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
The three-time All-Star would be ineligible to play in the Wild Card Series and ALDS but could return for the ALCS or World Series if Chicago advances that far.
Following a trade deadline move from the Seattle Mariners, Castillo has been anything but effective for the White Sox.

In his first six starts with the White Sox, Castillo posted a 7.52 ERA before transitioning to opener and bullpen roles.
There's a chance Castillo wouldn't have been selected for the first round of the postseason due to his poor performance. The shoulder injury guarantees his absence.
The White Sox are on the hook for Castillo's $22.75 million salary for the 2027 season.
