With Colson Montgomery exceeding his prospect status, Braden Montgomery now holds the Chicago White Sox's top prospect ranking. He is an exciting outfielder that fans will want to get familiar with.
Montgomery made a name for himself as a high school baseball player in Mississippi. During his senior year, he was named the state's Gatorade Player of the Year.
After graduating, he would attend Stanford University, where he was the starting outfielder and worked as a reliever, but later transferred to Texas A&M. However, he has stopped focusing on being a two-way player and has all his attention on developing as an outfielder.

White Sox could solve their outfield problem by calling up their top prospect
During the 2024 MLB Draft, he was selected as the 12th overall pick by the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery was a part of the trade that sent Garrett Crochet to Boston.
He is currently working his way through the minors and is in Double-A to start the 2026 season. However, that does not mean he does not have a chance to make his MLB debut this year and be the sparkplug that the White Sox are looking for.
Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter believes he could have a massive opportunity ahead of him.
"The White Sox received four prospects in the deal that sent Garrett Crochet to the Red Sox, and Montgomery is the only one that has yet to reach the majors. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 draft racked up 50 extra-base hits in 121 last year while reaching Double-A, and the everyday right field job and a spot in the middle of the lineup awaits before 2026 is over."
The White Sox could desperately use an upgrade in the outfield, preferably right field. He has the strong arm to play the position, and a good bat that can get on base and drive in runs when needed, and looking at how the White Sox have looked offensively, they don't have much to lose by calling him up this season.
