Where Was ‘Sirens’ Filmed?

In Sirens, Julianne Moore stars as the mysterious Michaela Kell, a high society woman who somehow always manages to trap others in her glamorous web. So, it only makes sense that such a powerful woman would live in a dreamy place like Cliff House.

The Kell estate is practically a character of its own in the new dark comedy series Sirens, which premiered on Netflix this week. The show begins with Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy) leaving her hometown of Buffalo, New York, to Port Haven, New York, where her sister Simone DeWitt (Milly Alcock) is staying on Michaela’s estate as her live-in personal assistant. The pilot episode illustrates the entire odyssey Devon goes through as she travels by bus, boat, and foot to finally give Simone a piece of her mind and get her to come back home.

But Devon finds that Simone’s life in Port Haven is better than she could have imagined. Simone is perfectly happy being at Michaela’s beck and call; she has no qualms sleeping just feet away from her boss, or even sometimes sharing a bed with her. The show makes it abundantly clear that prying Simone away from Michaela – and, more so, the idyllic summer she’s had in Port Haven – will be more of a feat than Devon could ever anticipate.

But where does the Sirens TV show take place? Here is everything we know.

Where is Sirens set?

While you may be asking yourself, “Where is Port Haven?” The answer is more complicated than you think.

Sirens is set in the fictional town of Port Haven, where everyone seems to know the Kells and their infamous Cliff House. The waterfront town looks like your typical beach getaway that is just a stone’s throw from New York City. But the team behind Sirens went to many lengths and filming locations to create the dreamy beach town of Port Haven.

Where is the show Sirens filmed?

According to Netflix’s Tudum, the show filmed in a couple of locations across New York state.

Scenes in the exteriors and grounds of the Cliff House were filmed at the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve in Lloyd Harbor, New York, a small village in Long Island. According to Realtor.com, the park’s headquarters was given a makeover using CGI to give it a more modern look and a pool. Lloyd Harbor is also where much of the scenes in town were filmed.

And, though we would all love to see Michaela Kell give an Architectural Digest-style tour of the Cliff House, the interiors of the house were actually built on a sound stage at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York.

Sirens star Felix Solis, who plays Jose, shared that even he was wowed by the set design.

“You show up on set and you see this home, and I literally went, ‘Do you think someone actually, humanly, in real life, lives in places like this?’” he said. He revealed he was told the interiors were based on “an actual person’s home.”

The show also filmed in Buffalo to capture the true essence of the DeWitt sisters’ hometown.

“I was so excited that we were able to shoot just a little bit of Buffalo so that everyone understands where Devon is coming from,” creator Molly Smith Metzler tells Tudum. “We have to enter it from her point of view. And her point of view is so very different from the colors, the music, the culture, the rules, the politeness [of Cliff House]. That contrast actually is sort of the engine of the whole show.”

Sirens is streaming now on Netflix.
