UCLA was the No. 1 team in the nation following its first meet, but fell to No. 9 after an underwhelming team performance at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. Either way, star Olympian Jordan Chiles has flourished in her senior season, sticking her first perfect 10 on vault and leading the nation in the all-around.
Michigan State excelled last season, though the squad narrowly missed out on the NCAA championships, falling just 0.375 points behind UCLA. The Spartans might not reach the same success in this year's campaign, as the team lost Gabrielle Stephen and Skyla Schulte, and has been consistently scoring under past benchmarks.
