The Arizona Cardinals will take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9's "Monday Night Football" game, but they will have to do so without their starting quarterback.
Kyler Murray has been dealing with a foot injury that has sidelined him for the last two weeks. Jacoby Brissett has filled in as the starter, and despite playing well, has not been able to secure a win for Arizona.
There was hope that Murray would be able to suit up on Monday night after three limited practice participations during the week. Head coach Jonathan Gannon even said that the starter would still have a role on Monday night, despite not getting the start.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported before the game that that was not the case and that Murray would not be playing Monday night. The quarterback went into the weekend listed as questionable for the game, but was then listed as inactive.

Where is Kyler Murray?
Murray has been sidelined the last two weeks with a foot injury that he sustained in the Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The starting quarterback missed two games in a row, but there was hope that the Week 8 bye week came at the perfect time to get him healthy. Instead, Brissett was named the starting quarterback against Dallas in Week 9.
Murray might be able to serve as the emergency third quarterback if needed, but otherwise he has been ruled inactive for the game.

When is Kyler Murray returning?
An exact return date for Murray has not been determined. There was hope that he would be available to start in Week 9 against the Cowboys, but Brissett was named the starter. There was even some hope when Gannon said that Murray would still have a role, but then Fowler reported that this was unlikely.
Heading into the game with a 2-5 record, Arizona is hoping that Murray can return to the field in Week 10 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.

What happened to Kyler Murray?
Murray suffered a foot injury in Week 6 against the Titans. The Arizona quarterback got caught in an embarrassing situation. The ball was snapped before he was ready for it, and it ended up hitting him in the helmet. To make matters worse, when he stumbled back, then tried to go forward, then stopped, then ended up going forward again, the rapid change in movement resulted in a foot injury.
