Tiger Woods has played golf alongside some of the greatest athletes and biggest celebrities in the world. In an interview three years ago, he named some of the celebrities who have impressed him the most on the golf course.
The Major League Baseball (MLB)'s Big Three made the 15-time Major championship winner's list of the best celebrity pairings he's played with. The Atlanta Braves' 1900s pitching trio, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, were just as skilled on the golf course as they were on the baseball field.
Despite posting an incredible 62 score that day, the golfing legend still lost money to the three Hall of Famers.
Here's a look at what Tiger Woods had to say about their 'epic' golf outing (via Golf Magic):
“[John] Smoltz, [Tom] Glavine, and [Greg] Maddux when they were all pitching with the Braves. That was epic. I shot 62, 6,2 and lost money."When asked about the best amateur golfers he's ever played with, Tiger Woods brought up one of the Atlanta Braves pitchers. He said that John Smoltz and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo top his list.
Tiger Woods speaks on his future tournament schedule
Tiger Woods underwent his seventh surgery in eleven years. He most recently had a disk replacement surgery in October to help with his spinal mobility and pain.
Having made five starts on the PGA Tour this year, he publicly addressed his future playing competitive golf at the recently concluded 2025 Hero World Challenge. Stating that physical rehabilitation and therapy are processes he has been familiar with in the past, the 82-time PGA Tour winner said that he is not yet in a position to make a decision about his future tournament schedule.
Now eligible to play on the Champions Tour, Tiger Woods said (via PGA Tour):
"I'm just looking forward to just let me get back to playing again, let me do that and then I'll kind of figure out what the schedule is going to be. I'm a ways away from that part of it and that type of decision, that type of commitment level. Unfortunately, I've been through this rehab process before, it's just step by step. Once I get a feel for practicing, exploding, playing, the recovery process, then I can assess where I'm going to play and how much I'll play. I really haven't gone in depth of what the schedule looks like on the Champions Tour except for a few tournaments.”Woods has been through spinal fusion procedures in the past. However, the recovery from a disk replacement surgery is more complex and takes more time. The World Golf Hall of Famer has not played a season with more than seven tournaments in over six years.
