The alleged Beckham family feud returned to the spotlight after David and Victoria Beckham appeared to unfollow their eldest son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, on Instagram. On December 20, 2025, People magazine reported that both David and Victoria’s following lists had changed.

It coincided with Brooklyn no longer following his parents on the social media platform. Brooklyn also did not follow either of his brothers on the platform, nor did they follow him back. The same pattern appeared to apply to Nicola, who also did not follow the Beckham siblings.

This latest incident unfolded amid ongoing speculation about a Beckham family feud. Rumors of tension within the family first emerged after Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz in 2022. However, the speculation intensified after both Brooklyn and Nicola were notably absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration.

David and Victoria still followed their other two sons, Romeo and Cruz, on Instagram. The report detailed that the couple did not follow Brooklyn’s wife, actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, either, and vice versa.

Amid the online speculation, Cruz publicly addressed the situation. He shared a screenshot of a Daily Mail article discussing the alleged unfollowing on his Instagram Stories and pushed back against the narrative.

He explained that the situation had been misrepresented and suggested that his parents had been blocked rather than choosing to unfollow their son. He wrote:

“NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son … Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked … as did I.” (As per People Magazine)

The recent Instagram unfollowing involving members of the Beckham family unfolded against a backdrop of long-simmering speculation about tensions between Brooklyn Beckham, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, and the rest of the famous family.

The rumored rift was widely believed to have begun around Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish April 2022 wedding in Palm Beach, Florida.

While the event was celebrated as a glamorous union surrounded by family and friends, it also sparked intense tabloid scrutiny, particularly over Nicola’s wedding dress choice. Many had assumed she would wear a gown designed by her mother-in-law, Victoria.

However, when Nicola Peltz instead walked down the aisle in Valentino Couture, reports of bad blood quickly followed. At the time, speculation centered on alleged tension between Nicola and Victoria, with claims that the actress had declined to wear one of Victoria’s designs despite initially planning to do so.

Rumors further intensified when a source told People Magazine that Victoria Beckham had allegedly interrupted a planned first dance moment at the wedding, joining Brooklyn during a song performed by Marc Anthony that had been intended for the newlyweds.

Months later, Nicola directly addressed the situation, explaining that the dress change stemmed from logistical issues rather than personal conflict.

In an interview with Variety dated August 10, 2022, she clarified that Victoria’s atelier was unable to complete the gown in time, which forced her to choose another designer.

“I was going to, and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,” Nicola told Variety in August 2022.

Brooklyn also weighed in during the same interview and pushed back against narratives of discord. He stressed that speculation often overshadowed reality, suggesting that public assumptions had little bearing on how his family actually functioned behind closed doors.

“I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good,” Brooklyn said.

Nicola later described the Beckhams as “great in-laws” in an interview with Grazia, while Victoria, addressing the wedding months later, praised the celebration as “a beautiful wedding” and spoke emotionally about seeing her son happy during an appearance on TODAY.

“As a mother, to see my son so happy means so much…What more can you ask for?” Victoria said in the October 13, 2022 interview.

Despite those reassurances, questions resurfaced in April 2024 when Nicola did not attend Victoria’s star-studded 50th birthday party, which included appearances by Tom Cruise and all four Spice Girls. Nicola later explained on Instagram that she was spending time with her grandmother, who died less than a month afterward.

By December, however, signs of unity re-emerged when Brooklyn and Nicola appeared alongside the Beckham family for the holidays.

Victoria shared photos of the gathering and expressed how much “being together for the holidays” meant to her, tagging all of her children and her daughter-in-law and emphasizing how much she loved them.

However, the sense of calm proved short-lived. In May 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola were notably absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration in London, despite being invited. Victoria, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper all attended, but the couple’s absence fueled renewed feud rumors after they were missing from family photos shared online.

Sources offered conflicting explanations. One told E! News that Brooklyn and Nicola had traveled to England and skipped the Met Gala in hopes of celebrating David privately.

Another source told People Magazine that the couple avoided the event due to discomfort surrounding Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, who was rumored to have once been linked to Brooklyn. This claim was publicly denied by Cruz, stating that Brooklyn and Kim “never dated.”

As speculation mounted, family members shared pointed social media posts.

Brooklyn uploaded a video of himself and Nicola riding a motorcycle, declaring he would “always choose” her, while Cruz posted a tribute praising his parents for their love and sacrifices, emphasizing how “blessed” he felt to have them.

Behind the scenes, reconciliation appeared difficult. A source told People Magazine earlier in the year that every attempt at peace seemed to unravel, explaining that the family had repeatedly tried to mend the relationship.

The insider noted that Brooklyn felt conflicted, caught between loyalty to his wife and his complicated bond with his family, particularly his father, which at times had felt more like “business” than an emotional connection.

Still, the insider insisted the situation was not irreversible, stressing that David and Victoria remained deeply invested in their son’s life despite their disappointment.

“The relationship is definitely not beyond repair…They love and are always there for him…They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life,” the insider said.

As per the December 20 People magazine report, representatives for neither David nor Brooklyn have responded to requests for comment.

However, a spokesperson for Victoria clarified to the outlet that Cruz Beckham was only reacting to reports claiming his parents had unfollowed their son, “which isn’t true."
