After missing the previous two games, Joel Embiid returned to the Philadelphia 76ers lineup Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, but his comeback was short-lived when what appeared to be a knee injury forced him out early in the third quarter.
While rushing into the paint to establish position, Embiid became entangled with Nets guard Terance Mann, causing him to trip and fall hard to the floor in visible pain. He exited the game with 19 points and three rebounds in 16:41 of action.
In a reassuring development for 76ers fans, Embiid later returned to the bench with his knees wrapped and eventually checked back into the game with 6:49 remaining in the third quarter, hoping to stabilize Philadelphia as it faced a double-digit deficit.
