YouTube Minecraft legend and musician, Clay "Dream," recently released a video titled "I might not ever play Minecraft again," which had fans concerned about his career with the game that brought him to internet stardom. While some may expect the video to be a classic clickbait tactic, the YouTuber immediately confirmed that it wasn't, and expressed that his video gaming days may be coming to an end.

He opened up the video, saying:

"The title is not clickbait. I may never be able to play Minecraft again, at least as good as I used to be. I haven't really expressed my true feelings with people around me..."

He then went on to explain why his time on Minecraft may be cut short, mentioning a wrist injury that happened in early 2025. That being said, Dream is still stuck in a cast. This suggests that the YouTuber's injury is fairly serious, considering his recovery is still ongoing.

In terms of how it happened, Clay mentioned a sparring session with his fellow platform member, Sapnap, who was scheduled to fight Tubbo in the now-cancelled Creator Clash 3 event:

"I went and sparred [Sapnap] in our garage, and I broke my wrist in the process. I was throwing punches in ways that you shouldn't and the adrenaline was pumping, I don't know... I threw some overhand [punches]... hitting with my wrist... I broke a bone called the scaphoid." (Timestamp - 1:11)

Overall, after sparring Sapnap with improper form, Dream found himself with a scaphoid fracture, which is a break in one of the wrist's carpal bones, most often caused by a fall onto an outstretched hand, or in this case, boxing with excessive wrist impact.

He also mentioned that the scaphoid is "one of the hardest bones in the body to heal":

"It is one of the hardest bones in the body to heal. My luck. Yes, one of the hardest bones in the body to heal. It's because there's only one artery, I guess, that goes to the bone. And so if you break it, then parts of the bone can't properly receive blood and therefore can't heal as easily." (Timestamp - 1:54)

Clay also avoided treating the break due to a lack of pain. This decision seemingly worsened the injury.

While the pain was not too much of an inconvenience in his daily life, his Minecraft gameplay skill did take a noticeable plunge:

"I was not as good at the game. My aim was off. I was having really a hard time aiming, I guess, and fighting people, PvPing because [of] my wrist..." (Timestamp - 2:54)

After noticing the change in mobility, Dream took a trip to the doctor's, found out how severe his condition had become, and was told that surgery would be necessary.

After two rounds of surgery, the YouTuber was put in a cast. After his cast is removed, Clay will have to undergo some physical therapy to get his wrist back to normal condition.

In the end, Dream expressed how there is no guarantee that his wrist will be completely fixed. That said, he assured his fans that he would take all the steps necessary to get himself back to 100%:

"Every day I woke up and had to work on, and I have no doubt in my mind that I'll do the exact same thing here and it will be a comeback story and it'll be something you know for the ages... we'll come back..." (Timestamp - 8:29)

In mid-2025, Dream took to X and expressed that he would "not be participating in Pride Month."
