It took some time before the highly anticipated showdown between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa in ONE Championship finally went down. But when it did, the Thai superstar made sure he was at the winning end of it.

The clash took place back in March at ONE 172 in front of Takeru's hometown fans in Japan. 'The Iron Man' only needed 80 seconds to take out 'The Natural Born Crusher' in their flyweight kickboxing super fight, scoring a solid left hook that sent the Japanese legend down to the canvas and left unable to continue after.

Rodtang was on top of things right from the get-go, putting the pressure on his opponent with punishing leg kicks. It eventually led to a flurry punches and the telling left hook that ended the night for Takeru.

ONE Championship recently uploaded the full fight on its official YouTube channel, which now has over 60,000 views, for fans to relive.

The loss was a sorry end for Takeru, who made it known that he wanted to face and defeat Rodtang since he came on board ONE Championship in 2023 following his stellar run at K-1.

Rodtang returns to Japan to reclaim flyweight Muay Thai gold

Rodtang returns to Japan later this month, eyeing to reclaim the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title he previously long held.

The 28-year-old Jitmuangnon Gym standout will vie for the currently vacant flyweight gold at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on Nov. 16. He will take on fellow Thai superstar Nong-O Hama in the marquee showdown, part of the stacked event happening at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

Rodtang lost the flyweight world title on the scales after missing weight in his scheduled defense against challenger Jacob Smith in November last year. The contest still pushed through with the British challenger the only one eligible to win the belt but the erstwhile champion made sure the flyweight world title remained vacant with an emphatic decision victory.

The Thai striker enters ONE 173 off his impressive knockout win over Takeru Segawa in March. Incidentally, Takeru is also seeing action in the tentpole offering of ONE Championship, featured in a flyweight kickboxing contest against veteran Bosnian-Canadian fighter Denis Puric.

Tickets for ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri are available via ePlus in Japan. For more information and updates on the event, follow Sportskeeda MMA and ONE Championship.
