What does Termite do in Grow a Garden?

The Grow a Garden Smithing Event introduced Termite, a Common-rarity Pet that can be obtained through the Treasure Digging minigame. This Pet affects the age of other creatures on the farm, reducing it when its passive triggers. Its passive ability is true to its namesake, hampering other creatures rather than helping them thrive on the farm. So, it’s no wonder that it is considered to be one of the least effective Pets in the game.

Termite’s ability activates every once in a while, reducing the age (i.e. level) of a random Pet on the farm by one. It cannot decrease a Pet’s age more than one at a time, and its passive is unaffected by ability-enhancing Pets. So, it is not an effective way to reset a Pet’s age, either.

There are niche circumstances where you may find a use for Termite. For instance, you can complete certain level-specific missions for certain Pets by having this pest on the farm. You may also use it in tandem with the Hydra Pet to continue triggering its ability with each level, even if it reaches the level cap.

Unless you are a collector, there is very little reason to keep the Termite on the farm. So, we recommend adding it to your collection and keeping it away from your active Pet slots.

Termite is exclusive to the Treasure Digging minigame. It has a 7.22% chance of being the featured reward while you dig, making it fairly elusive for its rarity. You can access the Treasure Digging minigame from the in-game shop, where you can perform a dig once every hour. The ability to dig restores by one every 2-3 hours, and stacks until you can dig up to 10 times at once.
