The New York Mets are expected to sell this summer, and before deadline day, they've already traded David Peterson and A.J. Minter. But their next move is a much bigger one.

According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are in agreement on a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays involving Freddy Peralta, their big offseason trade pickup.

But, after trading for Peralta over the offseason, the return for him this summer is very important for the Mets. So, what did they actually get for the

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Rays will send Aidan Smith, Emilien Pitre, and Gary Gill Hill to the Mets for Peralta.

According to MLB Pipeline's prospect rankings, those are the Rays' No. 15 (Smith), No. 26 (Gill Hill), and No. 27 (Pitre) ranked prospects.

Smith is the best prospect coming back for Peralta, and he's a 22-year-old outfielder who has a .672 OPS this season, though he has a .693 OPS in High-A. He's a defensive-first outfielder with questionable offense.

Gill Hill is a 21-year-old right-handed pitching prospect who has a 4.49 ERA in 20 starts this season with 87 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched.

Pitre is a 23-year-old infield prospect who has an .855 OPS this season in 88 games with 70 walks and 32 stolen bases. He's posted a .943 OPS in Double-A and is an intriguing riser for the Mets in this Peralta trade.

Peralta is a 30-year-old veteran right-hander who is not having a good season. He has a 4.99 ERA with -0.2 bWAR on the year. He's not the best starting pitcher available this season.

To make matters worse, Peralta is a rental. He's a free agent after the 2026 season, and would have a high chance of leaving the team that acquired him.

So, all that to say his trade value wasn't nearly as high as what it was coming off his 2.70 ERA season with an All-Star nod with the Milwaukee Brewers last year.

Still, even with Peralta's struggles this season and his rental status, the Mets landed a solid three-player prospect haul ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline for Peralta.
