Penciling UConn into the Big East women's basketball tournament final is one of the safest bets around, and the Huskies have been true to form this week.
The No. 1 team in the land faces No. 2 seed Villanova for the trophy Monday, making it 22 consecutive years Geno Auriemma's squad has played for the title in whatever conference the Huskies have been in.
While the cast of characters in that span has been ever-changing, the standard remains unmatched. UConn (33-0) has won 49 games in a row and looks untouchable, against Big East competition at least. The Huskies defeated Georgetown and Creighton over the weekend by 45 and 49 points, respectively, to return to the final.
Can Villanova (25-6) challenge the champs? Well, the Wildcats' 14-point home loss to UConn last month was the Huskies' closest conference game this season ... but UConn also beat Villanova by 49 in Storrs in mid-January.
