GAME OF THE WEEK

Bishop Kelly (3-0) trailed early but dominated the second half, outscoring the Trojans 14-0 over the final 17 minutes. The difference was turnovers - the Knights forced four on the night, capping the victory with Jared Thiel's 23-yard pick-6 with just seven seconds remaining.

Knights quarterback Ben Avella was surgical, completing 20-of-33 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns to improve to 25-2 as a starter. His favorite targets were Jaxon Brady (119 yards) and Boston Huskey, who hauled in 112 yards and two scores.

For Rigby (3-1), it was a rare off night for an offense that had been clicking. Flowers completed just half of his passes for 226 yards and three interceptions. Kue Kofer provided a bright spot with 150 total yards (94 receiving) and a touchdown, while Chandler Faulkner added a 1-yard scoring run.

The Trojans (3-1), the defending 6A state champions with four of the last six titles overall, hadn't lost a game since last year's season opener.

No. 2 ROCKY MOUNTAIN 31, NO. 14 MOUNTAIN VIEW 21

Mountain View outgained Rocky Mountain by 110 yards Friday night but still lost 31-21, as the Grizzlies made their plays count in the Battle of the Mountains.

The difference came down to efficiency and timing. Rocky Mountain (3-0) struck for three explosive plays during a two-minute span of the second quarter to break the game open: Kalean Custer's 78-yard quarterback keeper, a 21-yard end-around touchdown by Rasean Jones, and Oakley Baxter's 70-yard breakaway score.

The Grizzlies' ground attack was relentless, churning out 354 rushing yards at an 8.8-yard clip. Baxter was the workhorse with 169 yards and two scores on 16 attempts, while Custer chipped in 145 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries.

The Mavericks (1-2) moved the ball effectively, piling up 499 total yards, but couldn't finish drives when it mattered. After finding the end zone on their first possession, Mountain View went scoreless until garbage time in the fourth quarter. A brutal five-possession stretch doomed them - two fumbles, two failed fourth-down attempts, and a punt that allowed Rocky Mountain to build a commanding 28-7 lead.

Hank Nelson threw for 348 yards on 23-of-37 passing with two touchdowns for Mountain View, but faced constant pressure from a Grizzly defense that recorded five sacks.

With the win, Rocky Mountain maintains possession of the fireman's axe trophy and extends its series lead to 6-2 in the crosstown rivalry.
