Bill Belichick did what he does best on Wednesday.
The North Carolina Tar Heels coach returned to campus for the start of spring practices, which was his first time meeting with the media since being snubbed as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall-of-Famer.
As we already know, Belichick's feelings about the situation are still very raw. His girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has been one of the more outspoken critics of the process and voters. But this is the first time Belichick has publicly responded to questions.
"I'm focused on coaching this team and focused on getting Carolina football to the highest level I can," Belichick said. "That's what I've always … I focus about what I can do. Things that are out of my control, I don't worry about."
Belichick's exclusion was a major topic during the week of Super Bowl 60. He was one vote short of making the cut. Yet again, Patriots owner Robert Kraft was also up for the half with similar career credentials and came up short as well.
"Six Super Bowls isn't enough?" Belichick reportedly said via ESPN right after receiving the news he was snubbed.
Even though Belichick didn't have much to say about being denied, he didn’t need to. If the Super Bowl wins aren't enough, his entire body of work speaks volumes. However, there's the other side of this debate.

There were multiple scandals under Belichick's watch with the Pats. Spygate and deflategate are just two of them. There's no denying how bad it looks as a whole. But Belichick is still one of the best and most accomplished coaches in the history of the sport. He'll be in Canton one day. Just not as an illustrious first-ballot choice.
For now, Belichick's focus is his second season as head coach at UNC. He led the Tar Heels to a 4-8 record in his first year with the program.
