Yosuke Asaji has earned his spot on the 2026 LIV Golf roster after finishing second in the International Series standings with 285.3 points. Before getting the news Asaji waited nervously in the clubhouse unsure if he had made it. A video captured his reaction when he finally learned he would be competing in the Saudi-backed league.

The International Series’ official account shared the clip on X on Sunday, November 23. Take a look at the video below:

The 29-year-old Japanese golfer, a veteran of the Asian Tour, had a strong season that included a win at the 2025 Moutai Singapore Open. He narrowly finished ahead of Miguel Tabuena in the International Series standings. Tabuena needed a T-6 finish or better to overtake him but fell just one shot short, giving Asaji the spot on the 2026 roster.

This year, Asaji competed on multiple tours, including the Asian Tour, Japan Tour, and Korea PGA. He is ranked 237th in the world and will make his Tour debut when the 2026 season begins in February.

Earlier this month, LIV Golf opened two roster spots via the International Series to help make its events eligible for OWGR points. Under previous rules, Asaji’s finish wouldn’t have been enough, but the new system gave him the opportunity to secure his place.

Yosuke Asaji admitted he didn’t feel nervous while waiting to see if he had made the roster.

“I was not nervous at all. I just wanted to see what was happening today. It all depended on other players' results today, and I just wanted to see what was happening,” he said.

When he realised Miguel Tabuena had fallen short Asaji celebrated the moment with his wife and caddie.

“I was so happy with my wife and my caddie, we were together. We can get in the LIV event. I was so happy,” he added.

Winning the 2025 Moutai Singapore Open had already put Asaji in contention for a LIV Golf spot. After the victory he realized he was second in the International Series Rankings and saw a clear path to secure a spot on the 2026 LIV Golf roster.

“Winning the Moutai Singapore Open was very, very valuable for me because after winning the Singapore Open, I noticed that I am No.2 in the International Series Rankings, and I thought, ‘oh, I have a pathway to LIV Golf, I have a chance to do this’”, he said.

At the PIF Saudi International, Asaji struggled to find consistency, finishing the two rounds at 2 over par. His first round included three birdies and four bogeys, while the second round had one birdie and two bogeys. Despite the mixed results, his season-long performance was enough to earn him a place on the LIV Golf roster.
