Alexander Zverev recently faced off against Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals. The Italian put on a dominant show for most of the battle and as Zverev struggled to break his opponent's serve, his frustrations boiled over.

Zverev entered the clash against Sinner with the head-to-head record between the two 5-4 in favor of the World No.1. While the duo's head-to-head record was close, Sinner was the dominant favorite for the win, having beaten the German in each of their last four encounters.

On Thursday, November 13, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner faced off against each other in Turin at the ATP Finals. As the Italian dominated the court, Zverev looked particularly frustrated after he failed to break the World No.1’s serve, seemingly mouthing the words ‘oh my god’ in anger before putting his racket in his mouth. With this win, Jannik Sinner has booked his place in the semifinals of the ATP Finals, having beaten Felix Auger-Aliassime earlier this week.

At the ATP Tour Finals, Alexander Zverev put up a spirited display in his clash against Jannik Sinner, before going down 4-6, 3-6. After the match, the German reflected on his opponent's strengths, saying (as quoted by Punto de Break),

“It's evident how well he moves on the court and how he controls play from the baseline with his forehand and backhand, but his serve has significantly improved. In the seven break points I had, he hit seven first serves, and I could only return on one occasion; it turned into a winning shot for him. Nevertheless, I trust to face him again this week.”

Zverev went on to add that he felt like the score didn't reflect the intensity of the duo's battle, saying

"I think it was a great baseline battle; it felt like a high-level match, and I don't feel the score reflects what happened. It could have been a much more balanced match, but he had two chances to break me and took advantage of both, while I couldn't do it with the seven I had. That's what being the world number 1 is about.”

Up next, Alexander Zverev will face Felix Auger-Aliassime on Saturday, November 15 at the ATP Finals. Both the tennis stars have beaten Ben Shelton and lost to Jannik Sinner in Turin, and their upcoming battle will decide who moves forward into the semifinals.
