As the Golden State Warriors inch closer to the trade deadline, they are faced with a number of tough decisions as they chart the course of their short-term and long-term future. After holding off on major deals this past offseason, the Warriors front office appears to be gearing up for a key transaction or two before February 6.

According to NBA insider Anthony Slater, no less than Warriors owner Joe Lacob will get involved in the brainstorming sessions regarding a particular set of trade chips held by the team: the draft selections in the "post-Stephen Curry era." Slater reports that Lacob will be spending the next 30 days or so to mull the best course of action involving these picks.

Curry, who has brought four NBA titles to the Bay Area, is in his 17th season with the Warriors. In the 2030s, it's possible that Golden State will have entered its post-Curry era, which means that other teams could be eyeing the Warriors' draft picks within this time frame.

To date, the Warriors still own their first-round picks in 2031 and 2032. It's plausible that Lacob and the Warriors front office will be mulling over these two picks in particular, in addition to other draft assets.

All year long, Golden State has been linked to high-profile names. Around the time of the 2025 trade deadline, Jimmy Butler's name emerged in trade buzz surrounding the Warriors; the six-time All-Star ended up getting shipped by the Miami Heat, allowing Golden State to form a "Batman and Robin" tandem with Curry and Butler.

More recently, speculations on Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the Warriors picked up steam. For the Bucks to part ways with their main man over the past decade, they might very well ask the Warriors to hand over some draft capital.

Warriors trade rumors: Sweet-shooting guard reportedly on his way out of Golden State

Additional reporting by Forbes' Evan Sidery points to Buddy Hield, who came over to Golden State in the 2024 offseason, getting dealt to another team in the near future.

"The Warriors are canvassing the trade market on Buddy Hield," Sidery tweeted on Friday. "Playing a career-low in minutes, Hield appears on the way out of Golden State by the trade deadline. If Golden State attempts to make a big splash, Hield and Jonathan Kuminga’s salaries combined equal $31.7 million."

Though Hield has established a rapport with Butler and his other Warriors teammates, he has been unable to fully blossom into a top-tier shooter in the same vein as Klay Thompson years ago. It's possible, then, that the Warriors will cut bait on Hield over the next two months.
