Warriors predicted to 'screw' Lakers by trading for $175 million Bucks star, NBA champion

The Golden State Warriors need assistance in the worst way possible.

It’s safe to say the franchise wasn’t prepared to lose its star forward Jimmy Butler, three months before the start of the playoffs (season-ending ACL injury).

If the Warriors truly value Stephen Curry and his quest for ring No. 5, they’ll make a move that’ll give him the best possible chance to orchestrate a late-career championship run.

Blue Man Hoop’s Peter O’Keefe believes the Dubs could ‘screw’ the Los Angeles Lakers, their in-conference rival, by trading for a Milwaukee Bucks superstar and NBA champion.

“Warriors can screw the Lakers by trading for Giannis (Antetokounmpo) in the coming days,” O’Keefe wrote Sunday.

“The Lakers don't have the draft capital to be a strong suitor for Antetokounmpo right now, but that could change in the offseason, where they could look to pair the Milwaukee Bucks superstar with Luka Doncic.”

“Golden State's leverage right now is that they can send four first-round picks and pick swaps to Milwaukee, the latter of which in 2030 and beyond look incredibly valuable considering Stephen Curry will almost assuredly be in retirement.”

The Warriors should do everything in their power to ensure the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes end on Thursday. If the two-MVP is still on the market when the offseason arrives, Golden State will likely be at a disadvantage.

As multiple analysts have alluded to, the Warriors would have to be willing to part ways with Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green to convince Milwaukee to send Antetokounmpo to the Bay.

Golden State will have competition, but they have the assets to make the best trade of the season.
