Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins criticized Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr after their loss to the Toronto Raptors, specifically referencing Jonathan Kuminga's situation. Kuminga received another DNP in the Warriors' 141-127 overtime defeat in Toronto.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Perkins pointed out that the Warriors need size and athleticism, which Kuminga could have provided against the Raptors. Golden State was simply outhustled and outmuscled in overtime, with Toronto outscoring them 19-5.
"The Warriors are broken!!!! One day Steve Kerr is going to realize that you need size and athleticism “Kuminga” to compete against the good teams in the League," Perkins tweeted.•

While Steve Kerr used the same starting lineup for the game, Quinten Post was limited to just 18 minutes. Draymond Green and Al Horford had to split time at center, which worked well enough until overtime.
Kendrick Perkins had a point about the Golden State Warriors needing size and athleticism to compete in the stacked Western Conference. However, Jonathan Kuminga only provides one of them, which is athleticism. He played well early in the season and even earned a starting role.
Kuminga was doing the small things, from rebounding to hustling, before falling back to the old habits that put him at odds with Kerr. He's 6-foot-7, so he's basically a small forward. The Warriors need big bodies that could keep it competitive down low.

The Warriors can't deal Kuminga until January 15, when he finally becomes trade-eligible. It will be interesting to see how his DNPs would affect his worth in the trade market.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, rival teams are almost sure that Golden State is going to trade Kuminga. His relationship with Kerr is nearly nonexistent, and his fit with the Warriors' system isn't just there.
"(Rival teams) do not expect Jonathan Kuminga to still be a member of the Golden State Warriors past the trade deadline," Hayes said on 'NBA on Prime,' according to ClutchPoints. "So he is a name to watch as this time goes on. Kuminga has been very frustrated. ... I was told he's had numerous meetings with Steve Kerr, and those two just haven't been on the same page."Some of the teams that have been linked to Kuminga are the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans.
