Shara Magomedov responded sharply after Arman Tsarukyan implied the Russian was avoiding a grappling matchup against him.

Magomedov pushed back and drew a line between their backgrounds. He shed light on his difficult upbringing and grind through the sport while accusing Tsarukyan of speaking from a far more comfortable place.

At the recent Hype FC press conference, Magomedov said:

"I stole aluminium from my neighborhood so I can afford gloves to train. You lived a different life. Don't talk about being afraid. Guys like you are calling a police around me."

The pair will lock horns in a submission-only grappling contest scheduled for Dec. 30 in Yerevan under the Hype FC banner. The booking raised eyebrows immediately due to the weight gap.

Tsarukyan is a top lightweight contender known for elite wrestling and control, while Magomedov competes at middleweight and built his reputation almost entirely through striking. Tsarukyan’s camp leaned into that contrast while promoting the bout.

They suggested that Magomedov was vulnerable on the ground and hesitant to expose the weakness. Magomedov has countered the claims and wants to get a victory in the upcoming match.

The matchup will be contested in a submission-only format. The fighters will have ten minutes to secure a submission with no points and no judges to rely on if the action stalls.

Shara Magomedov unfazed by Arman Tsarukyan’s home crowd support in Yerevan

Shara Magomedov is prepared to walk into unfriendly territory without a second thought. The middleweight striker expects Arman Tsarukyan to receive the bulk of the crowd support when they headline Hype Fighting Championship on Dec. 30 in Yerevan.

Tsarukyan’s Armenian roots make that reality unavoidable, even if Magomedov has enjoyed strong backing from local fans in the past. In a recent interview with Red Corner MMA, he said:

“I have a lot of people in Armenia who support me. I know Armenians are a very united nation. They always care about each other. So if some fans have to pick between me and Arman, I won’t be upset if they support their countryman. My coach will be rooting for me even though he’s Armenian, but if he supported my rival, then I would get upset.”
